Jason Shestok, Psy.D.

I received a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology (now William James College) in Boston, Massachusetts.  Prior to that I received a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania; Before that, a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from St. Edward's University, here in Austin. My clinical experience and training includes community mental health, school-based psychotherapy and psychological testing/academic assessment, child/adolescent inpatient and residential care evaluations and psychotherapy, and general private agency practice.

I consider my role as a psychologist as that of someone who strives to focus on the personal strengths, abilities, as well as vulnerabilities of the person through empathic support and optimism for realistic, positive change. To, collectively with each person or family, create a safe place where immediate issues or longstanding problems or patterns can be identified, acknowledged, and explored. I seek to appreciate the whole person as a means to make sense of their experiences and behavior. I also find the application of the psychometric evaluative and assessment process as an opportunity to unfold an additional layer of insight in a person's strengths, capacities, and dispositions in an effort to further support treatment planning and objectives for change and growth.

I am happy to call Austin home, where I live with my wife who is a professional singer, performing with Grammy winning ensembles Austin's Conspirare and Philadelphia's The Crossing.
